JENNIE

two implants

I was terrified of having the surgery, but it was much easier and better than I had expected and I am really glad that I overcame the fear and had it done.  The implants are brilliant!

When my bridge needed replacing the choice was between implants or a plate - no doubt about which is preferable!

two implants

After some disastrous dental work by a previous dentist I unfortunately had to lose two teeth. This gap caused several problems. Firstly it changed the shape of my face and also, being a clarinettist, caused me problems with control of my facial muscles.

My options were, dentures or dental implants, as the gap was too large for a bridge. I was totally averse to dentures so I opted for dental implants.  I now have two dental implants which look and feel like my own teeth and my problems are solved.  Mr Gatenby is an excellent, caring, dental surgeon and his after care is second to none

It was very reassuring to know that I was in safe hands and that decisions about my implant treatment was made in the best interests for me as the patient, but I have to admit that I did not like the thought of drilling into my jaw, but being quietly determined I went ahead with the treatment.

I found that the drilling was no more uncomfortable than my six monthly visits to the Dental Hygienist. The results are amazing!!

MICHAEL

two implants

I am in my 82nd.year, so I have experienced the treatments of many Dental Surgeons from the school dentist onwards.  Mr.Gatenby stands head and shoulders above the field!  From the moment he greets you in the waiting room with a friendly smile you feel relaxed and in safe hands.  I have had several previous implants - but these last two proved to be by far the easiest.

His professionalism is most impressive, as are the precautions he takes to avoid sepsis.  This coupled with all the latest technology he has at his disposal and his willingness to explain each step, engenders a feeling of complete confidence.

Why do people fear visits to the dentist ?

STEVE

four implants

Because of 'dentist phobia' I only ever went to one when I had no choice and so due to neglect, for more than 12 years I have hated what my front teeth looked like - so much so that I used to cover my mouth when I laughed or smiled. Then last year I met Richard when he treated some of my problems. He was patient, understanding, and made the experience not only pain free but also stress free - so much so that I actually began to talk with him about implants - something that would have sent shivers done my spine previously!

So this week I had four implants fitted! The whole process took a little under 3 hours and however hard it is to believe, was once again totally stress and pain free! For the first time in 12 years, I can't wait to smile at people! I cannot express just how delighted I am and how different I feel. Thank you SO much Richard!

I had my front tooth broken when I was very young and have had a variety of unsuccessful caps and crowns over the years to the point where an extraction was the only option. I had a choice between a false tooth (on a plate) or an implant and decided that an implant was the only maintenance free option.

It was a fairly lengthy process but with no regrets, as my new implant is as strong, if not stronger, than my other teeth and I no longer have to worry about what I can, or can't eat. Cosmetically, there really is no difference between the implant and my real teeth.

The choices for me were simple: a false tooth and all the permanent hassle that goes with it, a bridge, which would mean putting additional pressure on less-than-perfect neighbouring teeth, or an implant.

My memory is of a Friday afternoon session in the dentist’s chair….my job was to keep my mouth open, and Mr. Gatenby’s to attend to the precise, minute, engineering side.  I have completely forgotten about the implant!!  It sits alongside my other teeth, gets cleaned when they do, and that’s it!  I have had no trouble at any time with the implant, and I attribute this to Mr. Gatenby’s skill and expertise. Choosing to have an implant is important, but getting the most skilled person to do it for you, is even more crucial

CATHERINE

three implants

I was in the unfortunate position of having suddenly lost 1 tooth on one side of my mouth followed by 3 on the other. I knew that implants made sense but I was terrified however finally plucked up courage and had one done initially, followed by two more.

It has stablised my other teeth and I can eat better. It has restored my speaking back to how it used to be and most important of all I can smile again without feeling self conscious. In fact I feel proud that I overcame my deep seated fear (Admittedly with a little help from Mr G and his patience! ) So yes GO FOR IT because you're worth it!.
